Bus hire at Sriperumbudur and Irungattukottai

The NH48 plant belt west of Chennai — three-shift staff contracts, engineering batches on industrial visits, and the gate protocol that decides whether either goes smoothly.

In short

Bus hire at Sriperumbudur covers two markets: three-shift staff contracts benchmarked at ₹3,500 – ₹10,000 per employee per month on 12 to 24 month terms, and industrial visit coaches from ₹7,500 – ₹9,000 a day for a 25-seater or ₹11,000 – ₹12,500 for a 45-seater. Hyundai's Irungattukottai plant alone runs to 600,000 units of capacity.

Two entirely different customers, one industrial belt

Sriperumbudur and neighbouring Irungattukottai generate two kinds of bus enquiry, and they have almost nothing in common except the gate they arrive at.

The plants need staff transport: fixed routes, three shifts a day, a roster that changes with production, and an absolute requirement that the bus is there. Hyundai at Irungattukottai runs to 600,000 units of capacity, Foxconn's operation here carries around 14,000 jobs from a ₹150 billion commitment, and the component tier around them employs many thousands more. These are 12 to 24 month contracts, benchmarked at ₹3,500 – ₹10,000 per employee per month, with a three-month trial and a 30 to 60 day exit clause.

The colleges need industrial visits: a single day, a batch of forty to eighty students, a gate pass, and a coach that waits somewhere the plant tells it to. ₹7,500 – ₹9,000 for a 25-seater or ₹11,000 – ₹12,500 for a 45-seat non-AC coach on the 10 hr / 100 km package covers most of them, and January to March is when every engineering department in Tamil Nadu wants one.

We do both, and we keep them on separate schedules — an IV coach is never a bus pulled off a shift contract.

Shift change owns the gate

A three-shift plant changes over three times in twenty-four hours, and for twenty to forty minutes around each changeover the gate belongs to the plant's own employee buses. Anything else arriving into that window queues outside.

For staff contracts this is the whole design problem: our buses are part of that wave, and the route timing has to put them in the right place in it. A route that arrives five minutes late every day does not cost five minutes — it costs a shift's worth of goodwill.

For industrial visits it is the opposite problem: your coach must arrive outside the changeover. So we ask what time the plant wants the batch at the gate and what the shift timings are that day, then back-calculate the departure from your campus with real NH48 traffic in the sum rather than a map estimate.

Security wants the vehicle registration and the visitor list in advance, generally with a deadline of their own. We release the registration number as soon as it is allocated rather than the evening before, specifically so the department can meet that deadline.

Getting to and from the belt

NH48 west out of Chennai is the artery, and its behaviour is predictable in the worst way: it is fine at 4 am, difficult from 7.30, and difficult again from 5.30 in the evening. Staff routes are built around those windows; visitor movements should be too.

The residential catchments that feed these plants spread across Poonamallee, Porur, Ambattur, Avadi, Thirumazhisai, Kanchipuram and Chennai's western suburbs. The right vehicle mix for a given plant is rarely the biggest coach available: a 45-seater doing one long loop through four catchments is worse for the employees at the end of it than two 25-seaters doing two short loops. That is what a route survey settles, and we do it before quoting rather than after signing.

Kanchipuram sits close enough to be both a catchment and a destination, and a number of groups combine an industrial visit here with the Kanchipuram temples on the same day. That works — but the temple streets take a 25 or 32-seater, not a 45-seat coach.

Questions we answer daily

Do you run staff buses to Sriperumbudur plants?

Yes, on 12 to 24 month contracts with a three-month trial and a 30 to 60 day exit clause, quoted per bus per month after a route survey. Chennai's benchmark is ₹3,500 – ₹10,000 per employee per month, with long routes and early first pickups sitting at the top of that band.

How much is an industrial visit bus to Sriperumbudur?

₹11,000 – ₹12,500 for a 45-seat non-AC coach or ₹7,500 – ₹9,000 for a 25-seater, on the 10 hour, 100 km local package, which covers a normal plant-belt day. Tolls, parking, one bata day of ₹500 – ₹800 and 5% GST are extra and itemised.

Which plants are in this belt?

Hyundai at Irungattukottai with around 600,000 units of capacity, Foxconn at Sriperumbudur with roughly 14,000 jobs from a ₹150 billion commitment, and a deep component tier around both. Renault-Nissan, Daimler and Ford are nearby at Oragadam and Maraimalai Nagar.

Can you time the bus around plant shift change?

Yes, and it is the first question we ask. For twenty to forty minutes around each of three daily changeovers the gate belongs to the plant's own buses. Staff routes are designed into that wave; visitor coaches are scheduled deliberately outside it.

How early do you need the vehicle registration for the gate pass?

As early as we can give it, which is usually as soon as the vehicle is allocated rather than the evening before. Plant security generally sets its own deadline for the visitor list and vehicle number, and missing it is the most common reason an industrial visit starts an hour late.

What size bus for a batch of 60 students?

Two vehicles once you count faculty — a 45-seat coach plus a 20-seat tempo traveller, or a 55-seater plus a small vehicle. Sixty students with four staff is 64 people, past any single body we run, and two vehicles also let you split across two plants on the same morning.

Do you cover Poonamallee, Porur and Avadi pickups?

Yes — those, along with Ambattur, Thirumazhisai and Kanchipuram, are the main residential catchments feeding this belt. The route survey decides whether one large coach or two smaller buses serves them better, which is usually a question about ride time rather than cost.

Is NH48 traffic factored into the quote?

Into the schedule rather than the rate. NH48 west is clear at 4 am, difficult from 7.30 and difficult again from 5.30 pm. We back-calculate departure times from those realities instead of from map estimates, which is why our reporting times look earlier than people expect.
