Bus and minibus hire on OMR

Taramani to Kelambakkam, the corridor that generates more group transport enquiries than the rest of Chennai combined — and where the traffic, not the distance, decides the quote.

In short

Bus hire on OMR runs from ₹6,500 for a 17-seat tempo traveller to ₹16,000 – ₹18,000 for a 45-seat AC coach on the 10 hr / 100 km local package. We pick up at Taramani, Perungudi, Thoraipakkam, Sholinganallur, Navalur, Siruseri SIPCOT and Kelambakkam, for staff shuttles, team offsites down ECR and visiting-team transfers.

One corridor, several distinct markets. Rates are our standard published bands — vehicle, fuel, driver and insurance in; tolls, parking, bata and 5% GST out.

Rates verified September 2026Monthly staff-transport contracts on this corridor are quoted per bus or per seat per month after a route survey, not from this table.Bands are indicative, not a fixed quote. What you pay moves with the vehicle class behind the seat count, the season, how many calendar days of bata the trip runs to and the permits the route needs. Rates are for the whole bus, not per seat.

On OMR, the traffic is the quote

Distances on this corridor are short and times are not. Taramani to Siruseri is a modest run on a map and a genuinely unpredictable one between 8.30 and 10.30 in the morning and from 5.30 in the evening. Anyone quoting an OMR job purely on kilometres has not driven it.

That is why almost all OMR work goes on the 10 hour / 100 km local package rather than a per-kilometre rate. The hours are what you consume; the kilometres rarely reach a hundred. A team day that starts at a Sholinganallur office at 8 am and returns from an ECR resort at 6 pm is a ten-hour hire that covers perhaps seventy kilometres.

The practical planning rule we give clients: build forty minutes of margin into any OMR pickup that has to meet a fixed time — a flight, a conference start, a muhurtham. It is cheaper to have the bus wait than to have forty people miss the thing they were going to.

What OMR groups actually book

Staff shuttles. Two-shift IT rosters, quoted per bus per month or per seat per month on 12 to 24 month contracts with a three-month trial. The corridor's shape means feeder routes matter: two 25-seaters running two loops frequently beat one 45-seater running one long one, because the difference is forty minutes of every employee's evening.

Offsites down ECR. The resort belt below Mahabalipuram is where this corridor takes its teams. A 32-seat AC midi coach at ₹13,000 – ₹15,000 for the day, waiting at the venue, is the standard booking.

Visiting teams and delegations. Airport to hotel to office, often for several days. Group transfers of 17 seats and above are ours; parties of four to fourteen are a car-rental job and belong with our sister brand chennaicarrentalss.com.

Conference and event shuttles. Multi-vehicle loops between a venue and two or three hotels, quoted per day per vehicle with one coordinator from us rather than four drivers being briefed separately.

Weekend and family travel. Tirupati, Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry from a residential pickup on the corridor, in a 20-seat traveller or a 27-seat minibus.

Boarding and parking at tech parks

Every tech park on this corridor has its own rules about where a hired bus can stand, and almost none of them allow a 45-seat coach to wait at the entrance. The workable pattern is a designated boarding point agreed with the facility team, a driver who is there fifteen minutes early, and one person from the group who has the driver's number.

Basement parking is a height problem rather than a length one, and no coach we run will enter one. For residential complexes on the corridor — which matters for wedding and weekend bookings — we check the gate before quoting a large vehicle, because a 45-seater that cannot turn inside the complex ends up on the main road with guests walking out to it.

Security at most parks wants the vehicle registration in advance. We send it by 6 pm the previous evening as standard, which is usually early enough for the pass to be arranged without anyone chasing.

Questions we answer daily

How much does a bus cost on OMR for a day?

₹6,500 – ₹8,500 for a 17 or 20-seat tempo traveller, ₹10,000 – ₹12,000 for a 25 or 27-seat AC minibus and ₹16,000 – ₹18,000 for a 45-seat AC coach, all on Chennai's 10 hour, 100 km local package. Tolls, parking, driver bata and 5% GST sit outside those figures.

Which OMR areas do you pick up from?

Taramani, Perungudi, Thoraipakkam, Sholinganallur, Navalur, Siruseri SIPCOT and Kelambakkam, plus the residential streets off the service roads. Billing is garage-to-garage from our Chennai yard, which is what lets a coach reach an OMR pickup at 5 am without a separate mobilisation charge.

Should an OMR job be quoted per km or per day?

Per day, almost always. The corridor consumes hours rather than kilometres — a team day from Sholinganallur to an ECR resort and back is ten hours and maybe seventy kilometres. A per-kilometre quote against a 200 to 300 km daily minimum would charge you for distance you never drive.

Can you run staff shuttles for an OMR company?

Yes, on 12 to 24 month contracts with a three-month trial and a 30 to 60 day exit clause, quoted per bus per month or per seat per month after a route survey. The market benchmark for Chennai is ₹3,500 – ₹10,000 per employee per month depending on route length and occupancy.

How early should the bus arrive for an OMR pickup?

Fifteen minutes before your boarding time as standard, and we build forty minutes of traffic margin into any OMR run that has to meet a fixed time. Between 8.30 and 10.30 am and after 5.30 pm the corridor is genuinely unpredictable, and waiting is cheaper than missing.

Where does the bus wait at a tech park?

At a boarding point agreed with your facility team — very few parks let a 45-seat coach stand at the entrance, and none of our coaches will enter a basement. We send the registration number by 6 pm the previous evening so the gate pass can be arranged in advance.

Do you cover Siruseri SIPCOT and Kelambakkam?

Yes, both. Siruseri is the far end of the corridor's shuttle market and Kelambakkam is where several campus and feeder routes start. A 25-seat non-AC minibus at ₹7,500 – ₹9,000 a day is the usual vehicle for feeder work at that end.

Can you take an OMR team to an ECR resort?

That is the corridor's most common offsite. A 32-seat AC midi coach at ₹13,000 – ₹15,000 covers the day including waiting at the venue; ECR tolls and resort parking are billed at actuals. Mahabalipuram is 60 km from the middle of OMR and about ninety minutes.
