Bus and minibus hire in Ambattur
One of Chennai's oldest industrial estates with an IT park bolted onto it, a dense residential belt around both, and streets that decide your vehicle size for you.
In short
Bus hire in Ambattur runs ₹7,000 – ₹9,500 for a 21 to 27 seat non-AC minibus and ₹11,000 – ₹18,000 for a 45-seat coach on the 10 hr / 100 km package. Ambattur is both a workplace and a large residential catchment feeding the Oragadam and Sriperumbudur plants, so most of what we run here is either a staff feeder or a factory-gate contract.

The streets decide the bus
Ambattur Industrial Estate was laid out for lorries and small units, not for 45-seat coaches, and the lanes inside it carry parked vehicles on both sides for most of the working day. Ekkatuthangal and parts of the Padi and Korattur approaches have the same character.
The practical consequence is that a 21 or 25-seat minibus often reaches a unit's gate that a coach cannot, and a coach ends up on the main road with employees walking out to it in the dark. On estate contracts we survey the actual gate approach before proposing a vehicle, and we will recommend two minibuses over one coach where the access says so, even though that is the more expensive answer.
The residential belt around the estate — Ambattur proper, Avadi, Mogappair, Padi, Korattur, Thirumullaivoyal — is the other half of the picture. These are dense streets with narrow turnings, and for staff pickups they favour smaller vehicles and more of them.
Feeder routes: Ambattur is where the auto belt sleeps
A large share of the people who work at Oragadam, Sriperumbudur and Irungattukottai live on this side of Chennai. That makes Ambattur one of the most important pickup catchments in our staff-transport business even though the plants themselves are twenty-five to forty kilometres away.
An Ambattur-to-Oragadam route is a long one, with an early first pickup and a driver committed for a large part of the day. It therefore prices near the top of the ₹3,500 – ₹10,000 per employee per month benchmark rather than the bottom, and the honest reason is the distance and the hours rather than anything mysterious.
What genuinely reduces the cost on routes like this is not negotiation but design: tighter pickup clusters so the loop is shorter, a realistic assessment of who actually travels every day, and the right vehicle size. A 45-seater running at 60% fill on a long route is the most expensive way to move those employees, and it is also the most common.
The other Ambattur bookings
The IT park. Ambattur's technology park generates offsite and team-day work — a 32-seat AC midi coach for the day at ₹13,000 – ₹15,000 is the usual shape, generally towards ECR or a resort on the western fringe.
Weddings. A dense residential belt means a steady stream of guest-shuttle bookings, usually two minibuses looping between a hall and the family's street rather than one coach. We quote these on twelve hours rather than ten, because wedding days overrun and the extra-hour rate is real money.
Temple and community groups. Tirupati and Tiruvannamalai are the standard runs, in 20-seat travellers and 27-seat minibuses, billed per kilometre against the 250 km daily minimum.
Schools. Section excursions to Mahabalipuram and the Crocodile Bank in 45-seat non-AC coaches during the November to February season, invoiced against the school's purchase order at 5% GST.
Questions we answer daily
How much is a minibus in Ambattur for a day?
₹7,000 – ₹8,000 for a 21-seat non-AC and ₹7,500 – ₹9,000 for a 25-seater on the 10 hour, 100 km local package, with extra hours at ₹650 – ₹900. AC minibuses are ₹9,000 – ₹11,000. Tolls, parking, driver bata and 5% GST are additional.
Can a 45 seater coach get inside Ambattur Industrial Estate?
To the main roads, yes; to many individual unit gates, no. The lanes were laid out for lorries and small units and carry parked vehicles on both sides. We survey the actual gate approach before proposing a vehicle and will recommend two minibuses over one coach where access requires it.
Do you run staff buses from Ambattur to Oragadam?
Yes — it is one of our most common feeder routes, because a large share of the auto belt's workforce lives on this side of the city. It is a long route with an early first pickup, so it prices near the top of the ₹3,500 – ₹10,000 per employee per month benchmark.
What is the cheapest way to move 25 staff from Ambattur?
A 25-seat non-AC 3+2 minibus at ₹7,500 – ₹9,000 a day, or on a monthly contract after a route survey. The saving that matters on a recurring route is not the rate but the fill — a bus running at 60% capacity is the most expensive way to move people, whatever the day rate says.
Do you cover Avadi, Mogappair and Padi?
Yes, along with Korattur and Thirumullaivoyal. They are dense residential streets with narrow turnings, which on staff routes favours more smaller vehicles rather than fewer large ones. Billing is garage-to-garage from our Chennai yard regardless of pickup point.
Can you supply buses for a wedding in Ambattur?
Yes, typically two 25 or 27-seat minibuses looping between the hall and the family's street rather than one coach, at ₹7,500 – ₹12,000 a day each. We quote weddings on a 12-hour basis because muhurtham days overrun and the extra-hour rate on a minibus is ₹750 – ₹1,000.
Do you do school excursions from Ambattur?
Yes, most often a 45-seat non-AC coach at ₹11,000 – ₹12,500 for a Mahabalipuram or Crocodile Bank day. We invoice against the school's purchase order with 5% GST, and we send the fitness certificate, permit and insurance copies before anyone has to ask for them.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to three days for an ordinary weekday minibus, and three weeks for November to February and for January to March wedding dates, when Chennai's whole fleet is committed. Monthly staff contracts need two to three weeks from first conversation to go-live, including the route survey.
