35 seater bus rental in Chennai

The size most college tours, mid-size weddings and temple groups actually need — big enough to keep a group of thirty together, small enough to stay off the Volvo price list. Here is what it costs, non-AC and AC, and when to size up to a 40.

In short

A 35 seater in Chennai is ₹40 – ₹48 per km as a non-AC 3+2 coach and ₹55 – ₹58 as an AC 2+2. Local 10 hr / 100 km packages are ₹9,500 – ₹13,500 non-AC and ₹12,500 – ₹14,500 AC, on a 300 km daily minimum (200 km AC), with bata ₹400 – ₹1,000 and 5% GST extra.

Non-AC or AC: the decision the 35-seater forces

The 35 is the size where the AC question stops being academic, because both versions are common and the price gap is real rather than token.

The non-AC 3+2 at ₹40 – ₹48 per km is a bench-seat bus built for durability — the vehicle that does Tamil Nadu's school runs and factory shifts. For a two or three-hour transfer, a day excursion to Mahabalipuram or a city shuttle, it is the sensible economic choice and nobody arrives the worse for it.

The AC 2+2 pushback at ₹55 – ₹58 is a different bus with reclining seats, sealed windows and a luggage bay. The rule we give callers is simple: under four hours, non-AC is fine; over four hours, or anything overnight or in the summer heat, the ₹12 – ₹15 per km extra for AC is money that buys a group that can still do the thing it travelled for. Extra hours run ₹850 non-AC against ₹1,050 AC, so an overrun also costs a little more on the air-conditioned bus.

Worked example: 35 seater to Tirupati, one day

Tirupati is 140 km each way, so a return darshan run is about 280 road kilometres — under the 300 km daily minimum, which means the minimum, not the odometer, sets the base.

  • Base: 300 km (the daily minimum) × ₹40 – ₹48 non-AC = ₹12,000 – ₹14,400
  • Driver bata: one calendar day at ₹400 – ₹800 if the bus leaves and returns the same day
  • Tolls: NH716 tolls at actuals, passed through on receipts
  • Parking: Tirumala parking at actuals
  • GST: 5% on the transport charge

Run the same trip in the AC 35-seater and the base is 300 km × ₹55 – ₹58 — but on an AC coach the daily minimum drops to 200 km, so a short-distance run like Tirupati can work out closer than the per-km gap suggests. We quote both so you can see the arithmetic rather than guess at it.

Where a 35-seater is the right call — and where it is not

The 35 is the quiet workhorse of group travel because it fits the groups most people actually have: a college class, a mid-size wedding party, a temple committee, a department offsite. It keeps everyone on one bus, which matters more than most planners admit — two 20-seaters is two drivers, two arrival times and two sets of people wondering where the others are.

Where we will steer you off it: temple streets in Kanchipuram, Mylapore and the older Navagraha towns, where even a 35-seat body cannot reach the gopuram and a 25-seater gets closer; and ghat roads to Kodaikanal, Ooty and Yelagiri, where a 30 or 32-seat midi coach climbs better and parks more easily. On those we say so before you book, not after.

What Chennai books 35-seaters for

College tours and school year groups

A class to Pondicherry, Mahabalipuram or a four-day college tour. Non-AC 3+2 is the season's workhorse; AC for the longer runs. Fitness certificate and permit copies sent before anyone asks.

  • Nov – Feb peak
  • Invoiced to the PO at 5% GST

Mid-size weddings

Guest movement between hotel and mandapam for a thirty-strong party, usually quoted on 12 hours rather than 10 because muhurtham days overrun and the extra-hour rate is real.

  • Jan – Mar, Apr – Jun, Aug – Sep
  • Extra hour ₹850 – ₹1,050

Temple and pilgrimage groups

Tirupati, Tiruvannamalai and the southern temple towns, where thirty-five people and one bus is the whole point. Temple-street access checked before we confirm the class.

  • 300 km daily minimum non-AC
  • Overnight halts planned

Industrial visits

Engineering batches to the Sriperumbudur and Oragadam plant belt. A single 35-seater keeps a class together through gate security and the ID roll-call.

  • Jan – Mar IV season
  • Multi-plant days

Corporate offsites and shuttles

A department day out or an airport-to-venue conference loop, quoted per day on the 10 hr / 100 km local package with a fixed reporting time and a named driver.

  • Local 10 hr / 100 km
  • ECR resort runs

Day excursions

Mahabalipuram, Pondicherry and Kanchipuram as one-day runs, where the non-AC 35 at ₹40 – ₹48 per km is the lowest cost per head on the road.

  • 1-day local package
  • Lowest per-head cost

Compliance: what to demand before you put people on a coach

For a 35-seat vehicle carrying students, staff or wedding guests, four documents settle whether the operator is real.

  • Fitness certificate, current — a bus without one should not be on the road, let alone carrying your group.
  • Permit — a Tamil Nadu contract-carriage permit inside the state, and an All India Tourist Permit for anything crossing into Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh or Telangana.
  • Passenger insurance, valid, covering the seats you are filling.
  • Driver's badge and licence, plus a second driver on any run over 12 hours of wheel time.

We send all four on request without treating it as a negotiation. Schools and colleges: make it a line in your purchase order. It costs nothing and removes the only real risk in the transaction.

Questions we answer daily

What is the 35 seater bus rent per km in Chennai?

₹40 – ₹48 per km for a non-AC 3+2 coach and ₹55 – ₹58 for an AC 2+2 coach. The daily minimum is 300 km non-AC and 200 km AC, with driver bata of ₹400 – ₹1,000 per calendar day and 5% GST on top. Tolls, parking and inter-state permits are billed at actuals.

How much is a 35 seater bus for one day in Chennai?

On the 10 hour, 100 km local package a 35 seater is ₹9,500 – ₹13,500 non-AC and ₹12,500 – ₹14,500 AC. Beyond the package you pay ₹40 – ₹58 per extra kilometre and ₹850 per extra hour non-AC or ₹1,050 AC, plus bata, tolls, parking and 5% GST.

What is the difference between a 35 and a 40 seater?

Mostly body length and the number of rows. A 40 seater AC coach is ₹16,000 – ₹17,500 on the local package against ₹12,500 – ₹14,500 for a 35 AC, so if your group is near 35 and likely to grow, the 40 is often the better booking. Both exist in 3+2 non-AC and 2+2 AC.

Is a 35 seater available in non-AC?

Yes, as a 3+2 bench body, and it is the cheaper of the two at ₹40 – ₹48 per km with a 300 km daily minimum. It is the standard school-trip and factory-shift vehicle in Tamil Nadu. For journeys over four hours or anything overnight, the AC 2+2 at ₹55 – ₹58 is worth the difference.

How many people fit in a 35 seater bus?

Thirty-five, one per seat, and we do not overload. For a group of 35 we usually suggest a 40 seater so you keep the 10 to 15% margin every group needs for the late addition. A 35-strong group in a 35-seater has no spare seat for a guest, a guide or luggage on the aisle.

What does a 35 seater to Tirupati cost from Chennai?

For a one-day darshan run the bus bills against the 300 km daily minimum at ₹40 – ₹48 per km non-AC — about ₹12,000 – ₹14,400 — plus one bata day at ₹400 – ₹800, tolls, Tirumala parking at actuals and 5% GST. Tirupati is 140 km each way, so the minimum, not the odometer, sets the base.

Do you provide driver and fuel in the 35 seater rate?

Yes — the vehicle, fuel for the contracted distance, the driver, insurance and routine maintenance are inside the quoted rate. Outside it, and named on the quote: tolls, parking, driver bata per calendar day, inter-state permits, extra kilometres and hours, hill surcharge and 5% GST. Nothing is hidden and nothing is bundled vaguely.

How far ahead should I book a 35 seater in Chennai?

A week for ordinary dates. Three to four weeks for the November to February school and college trip season and for January to March wedding muhurthams, when 35 and 40-seat coaches are among the first vehicles in Chennai to run out. Monthly staff contracts need two to three weeks including a route survey.
