Why the 25-seater is the default Chennai booking
Ask us which single vehicle leaves the yard most often and it is this one. The reason is arithmetic rather than affection: Chennai's most common group sizes — a school class, a department, a temple committee, a wedding shuttle load — sit between eighteen and twenty-four people, and a 25-seater fits all of them with the margin you should always build in.
It is also the size at which the cost curve is kindest. A 21-seater saves perhaps ₹500 a day and gives you four fewer seats of margin. A 27-seater costs ₹1,000 – ₹1,500 more for two extra seats. For most groups, the 25 is simply the right point on the curve.
And it goes places a coach does not: Kanchipuram's temple approaches, Ambattur's estate lanes, apartment gates on OMR, the Navagraha village streets. That access is worth more than the seat count on a surprising number of trips.
AC or non-AC in a 25-seater
These are two different vehicles that happen to seat the same number of people.
The non-AC 25-seater is 3+2 — five across on a bench body, windows open, ₹7,500 – ₹9,000 a day. It is the correct choice for a school section going to the Crocodile Bank, a shift feeder route, a temple run inside the city, or any journey under about two hours. It is also the cheapest per head of anything at this size.
The AC 25-seater is 2+2 — four across, ₹10,000 – ₹11,000 a day. Worth the ₹2,500 for anything over four hours, anything in April to June, anything with clients or elderly passengers aboard.
The minimum-kilometre difference matters on outstation trips and is easy to miss: 250 km a day on the AC against 300 km on the non-AC. On a two-day Tirupati or Pondicherry trip that is 100 fewer billable kilometres on the AC bus, which claws back a meaningful part of the premium. Ask for both quotes and compare the totals rather than the rates.
What a 25-seater gets booked for
School sections. One class of twenty-five plus two teachers, to Mahabalipuram or Vedanthangal, in the November to February season. Non-AC 3+2, invoiced against the school's purchase order.
Office departments. Twenty-two people from an OMR or Guindy floor on a day out or an ECR offsite, usually AC, usually on the local package.
Temple groups. Tirupati, Tiruvannamalai, the Navagraha circuit. This is where the smaller body earns its money at every stop.
Wedding shuttles. Two 25-seaters looping between hotel and mandapam beats one coach doing half as many trips, and the family notices the difference in waiting time.
Staff feeder routes. Not every plant route carries forty-five people. A 25-seater on a Poonamallee or Porur feeder into an Oragadam or Sriperumbudur plant is a normal monthly contract for us, quoted per bus per month after a route survey.

How many people actually fit in a 25 seater?
Twenty-five seated adults, one per seat. For comfort and the 10 – 15% margin you should always build in, we would put a confirmed group of twenty to twenty-two in it. A group of exactly twenty-five in a 25-seater leaves no room for the person who always appears on the morning.
Is a 25 seater cheaper than two tempo travellers?
Yes, clearly. One 25-seat non-AC minibus is ₹7,500 – ₹9,000 a day against roughly ₹13,000 – ₹17,000 for two 17-seat travellers, with one driver instead of two, one bata instead of two and one set of tolls. It also keeps the group together at every stop.
Does a 25 seater have luggage space?
A small rear or side locker — roughly one cabin-sized bag per person plus food boxes, not twenty-five full suitcases. For an overnight trip with real luggage, the first class with a full-length underbody boot is the 30 or 32-seat midi coach at ₹11,000 – ₹15,000 a day.
What is the difference between a 21 and a 25 seater?
About ₹500 a day and four seats of margin. The 21-seater is ₹7,000 – ₹8,000 non-AC against ₹7,500 – ₹9,000 for the 25, and ₹27 – ₹29 per km against ₹30 – ₹32. For most Chennai group sizes the 25 is the better value simply because of the spare seats.
Can a 25 seater go to Tirupati or Sabarimala?
Yes to both. Tirupati is a comfortable one-day run in this class. For Sabarimala the standard market vehicle is the 21+1 at ₹37,500 non-AC for three days including the Kerala permit; a 25-seater is quoted on the same basis, with Kerala entry at ₹10,000 on a state permit and nil on an AITP bus.
Can I hire a 25 seater monthly for staff transport?
Yes. Feeder routes into the Oragadam and Sriperumbudur plants are normally run in this class, quoted per bus per month against a kilometre ceiling after a route survey, on 12 to 24 month terms with a three-month trial and a 30 to 60 day exit clause.
Which make of 25 seater will I get?
Usually an Eicher Skyline or an SML Isuzu body, occasionally a stretched Force. We confirm the make, the year and the registration number in writing before the trip, and if a specific chassis matters to you — as it should for a three-day ghat trip — say so at quote stage.
